FGC construction: Fiber Glass Composite
Decathlon Skateboarding has designed this new composite construction with 5 layers of FSC-certified Canadian maple and 2 layers of woven fibreglass, pressed with an Epoxy resin.
This new construction makes the board twice as resistant to breakage as a classic 7-ply maple construction.
Since it's lighter, the board also has more pop (bounce) and lasts longer than a 100% maple board.
Because we don't always land cleanly!
One board per mould
Our FGC decks are individually hot pressed, with an epoxy resin. This means that each mould only presses one board at a time. This allows us to guarantee optimal pressure distribution so that each board of the same model has the exact same shape and curve. Which is an advantage for those who enjoy skating with the same shape.
FSC-certified maple
The wood that we use is FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council). This certification guarantees that the forest has been managed so as to preserve biodiversity and benefit local people and workers, while ensuring its economic viability.
How are our products tested?
All our decks are tested in the laboratory. These tests validate their compliance with the standards for skateboard decks as well as their resistance to wear. In addition to lab tests, we do field tests - some measured and others based on the testers' opinions - to really put the product through its paces. To do so, we rely on our team of pro riders.
A deck co-designed with our rider teams
We've worked with professional riders to develop the DK900 range.
