Co-designed with Yannick Bestaven (winner of the Vendée Globe 2020) to take on a demanding world tour
The Tribord Offshore PRO set has been developed and tested with Yannick Bestaven and our pro skipper partners. It meets all their needs during their races, whether they're inshore or offshore, transatlantic, solo or with a team, and on different boats: Yannick BESTAVEN (IMOCA), Quentin VLAMYNCK (Ocean 50 and Figaro 3), Achille NEBOUT (Class 40), Keni PIPEROL (Class 40), Romain LE GALL (Figaro 3), Sasha LANIECE and Léo BOTHOREL (Mini 6.50).
The fabric’s water resistance level
The fabric, developed by our DECATHLON laboratory, is constructed with a 3-layer membrane, resistant to a water pressure of 20,000 mm Schmerbers (JIS standard).
The higher the water pressure withstood by the fabric, the more waterproof it is.
The product has been tested using a rainstorm simulator, reproducing rainfall of 450 L/m²/h over 4 hours and on multiple races with our pro skipper partners.
Lightweight design and freedom of movement
We have consciously chosen a lighter, more breathable and stretchier material to suit more athletic sailing and sailing in warmer weather.
The lightweight shell jacket has also been tried and tested in leisure sailing and kayaking, and weighs just 572 grams in size L.
Waterproofing of the shell jacket / spray top
Beyond the fabric, the design is crucial to waterproofing:
- NO ZIP to ensure waterproofing in all circumstances.
- Very comfortable, stretchy neoprene sleeves
- Very comfortable, stretchy neoprene collars
- Adjustable neoprene waistband.
- The seams are 100% taped
Neoprene collar and cuffs
Multiple collars (thickness, neoprene type, shape, height) were tested in the shower of our sailing lab, so we could identify the best adjustments.
Why choose neoprene over latex?
After countless performance, the neoprene was performing just as well as the latex.
How to choose the size of your shell jacket / spray top
The product sizing is generously cut. It was designed to be worn with a thermal base layer.
For men, choose your usual size.
Women should choose one size smaller than their usual size
How to wash your shell jacket
After use, rinse the jacket thoroughly with clean water, not forgetting the neoprene cuffs, to remove any salt.
Dry it on a line (rather than on a hanger, which risks damaging the neoprene collar) in a ventilated space. Caution: never dry your shell jacket directly on a radiator.
Once dry, you can apply talc to the neoprene.
Washing and storing the spray top
Was inside-out at 30°C
Then, once dry, put it in the tumble-dryer at a low temperature to reactive the water-repellency
Storage
It's best to store it folded, in its cover, in a dry place at room temperature
When sailing: Store it in the cover to avoid the neoprene snagging on anything
