The Essential range and our take on the large training cones.
Using our field observations and through discussions with coaches, we were able to note various needs when laying out exercises: marking points on the ground, dodging, etc. To meet these needs, we designed the Essential range. Useful, accessible products that fulfil a key function (marking out, targeting, etc.) for fun and effective training at all ages. Large cones which allow you to mark out the field. Follow the story!
Our football design team explains the Essential range's identity
"We wanted to continue the Essential range with these larger cones. So, we added the iconic arrow shape, delineated by the difference in texture between the matte and shiny sections of the plastic. These large cones can be used to represent an obstacle or mark out the play area: for example, the arrow makes it immediately obvious which side you need to go to avoid the obstacle. We wanted to make robust cones with an obvious visual marker."
The right design and size for more intuitive training
The cones can be used to mark out, delimit, or avoid depending on the age range. David, Kipsta Test Manager and Coach, explains all:
"For children, the large cones are used to mark out the pitch: they provide children with the greatest visual markers. The cones can be used to mark two small goals or a gate in the game. For adults, the large cones can be used as obstacles: their size makes them difficult to avoid, you really need to concentrate."
Reliability and robustness tested on the pitch
A unique visual identity and intuitive design! But above all, we wanted these cones to improve your training sessions for as long as possible. To reassure ourselves, we tested our products on the pitch at the Kipstadium in Tourcoing and with U9, U10 and U11 players in Lens, France. These demanding tests in real playing conditions confirmed that the cone shape was not just reliable and robust, but totally unique!
Stable cones on grass or synthetic pitches.
To keep the cones stable on artificial or grass pitches, our design team came up with a clever idea: the base of each cone has small notches that create a comb-like effect. blades of grass get caught between these and help anchor the cone against any sideways movement. Simple and effective!
