A word from the product manager
During snowboard lessons, very quickly (sometimes even at the end of the first week of classes), instructors teach kids to slide back to be immediately at home in both directions. Based on this observation, we have designed this board with a Twin Tip shape (symmetrical at the front and back). These kids’ freestyle snowboards are also the most versatile because they ride as well on piste as at the edges of the piste.
what size of kids’ snowboard?
Kids grow up which makes it a difficult choice. The right size quickly becomes too small but you can't go for one that's too big otherwise it will be difficult to learn and may put them off.
Let’s say -10 cm compared to their size is the maximum snowboard size, and -25 cm is the minimum. This 120 cm board can therefore be suitable for kids from 1.3 m (-10 cm) to 1.45 m (-25 cm).
The board grows with your kid
Kids grow around 6 cm per year. Ideally they can keep their board at least 2 years, then hand it down to their younger sister or brother. That's why we offer 2 position options for bindings:
- year 1, on the 4 inserts closest to the centre of the board
- in year 2, on the 4 inserts furthest from the centre of the board. But you can also sell the snowboard second hand :-)
Technical information
Front Width 257 mm / Centre 220 mm / Rear 257 mm
Radius 6.0 m
Effective edge 896 mm
Number of inserts: 2 x 6 (2 possible positions per binding / 40 mm between each position)
Recommended stance: 380 mm
When should you wax your snowboard?
Decathlon snowboards are supplied already waxed. They then require regular maintenance like all snowboards and skis: ideally, waxing every 5 outings and at least once a year, - either at the beginning of the season to start with a very good glide, - or at the end of the season so that the wax protects the base all summer long.
Glide quality: extruded base
The bases are made from polyethylene using 2 different technical processes:
- extruded base, with a certain density of polyethylene
- sintered base, with a greater density of polyethylene (fewer holes, more PE)
An extruded base provides a normal glide and good resistance over time.A sintered base is the Rolls Royce of bases. The glide is really fantastic.
